Counselling

People enter Counselling for many different reasons.  Ultimately something does not feel right. You may feel more tired than usual, irritable, having trouble sleeping, withdrawing from others, feeling misunderstood, worrying about an important decision, feeling fearful of the future or simply confused about life, whatever the reason Counselling can help.

Counselling gives a person the opportunity to talk in a private and confidential setting about any of their concerns.  Talking to a Counsellor, someone trained to listen is different from talking to family and friends. We often try to protect our family and friends from some of our deepest thoughts and feelings in fear we may worry them or upset them in some way.  Those barriers are removed when talking to a Counsellor.

As a Counsellor I have your best interests at heart.  I am not here to judge or criticise you in any way. We work together to discover the best outcomes for you.

Over my years of Counselling I’ve discovered just because one approach may work well for one client this does not mean it will work for the next. I am comfortable to integrate different theoretical approaches to find the best fit for your particular needs.

“The Nuts and Bolts”

Counselling needs to be undertaken on a voluntary basis.  You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.  You can drag someone to counselling but you can’t make them talk.

All Counselling sessions are confidential.  This will be discussed further at our initial meeting.

Counselling is carried out on a one to one basis.

The sessions are directed by you.  You are in control of what you say and what you choose not to say.

The length of each session is fifty minutes.

Frequency of sessions is usually weekly or fortnightly depending on what our commitments allow.

The sessions are usually held in my private office at the top of my garden.

If mobility is an issue we can explore ideas for a different venue.

Parking is available on the street, free of charge!

The initial meeting will be to ascertain if I am the most appropriate person to meet your needs.  This will also give us an idea if we are suited to work together.

Initial meeting: £25

Counselling Sessions: £50
